QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
From product selection to installation: find answers to the most important questions about LOXX®.
01
The right combination
SELECTION
I have a specific application – how do I find the right LOXX components?
The key factors are the material, material thickness, mounting surface and environment. Together, these determine the upper part, washer, lower part and finish. A photo and a few details are often enough for us to help you make the right choice.
Do I need a complete set, or can I combine upper and lower parts individually?
Sets are configured for typical applications and make it easier to get started. Individual components are useful if parts are already in place or if you are creating a special connection. Make sure to include every component and tool required for installation.
Which LOXX size matches my material thickness?
The clamping range is determined by the thread length and washer rather than the visible size. Measure the material as accurately as possible at the intended mounting point. An overview of the available clamping ranges can be found on our homepage.
Which lower part do I need for wood, metal, fabric or an existing mounting point?
Screw, metric-thread, fabric, clamp, clip and adhesive solutions are available for different mounting surfaces. The material is not the only factor: you should also consider whether the connection is to be drilled, screwed or retrofitted with as little alteration as possible.
Which finish is right for my application?
In addition to appearance, consider moisture, salt, abrasion and the desired ageing characteristics. Some finishes retain their appearance, while others deliberately develop a visible patina. We recommend bright chrome for saltwater environments.

APPLICATION & INSTALLATION
Can I retrofit LOXX to an existing cover, bag, instrument or vehicle?
In many cases, yes. Whether existing holes or mounting points can be reused depends on their condition, position and dimensions. For valuable or sensitive components, we recommend checking the intended installation before making any changes.
Can I replace existing turn buttons or snap fasteners with LOXX?
Retrofit solutions are available for a range of existing mounting points. The best way to determine whether a direct replacement is possible is to provide a photo and the relevant dimensions.
Which tools do I need for installation?
A simple hand tool is usually sufficient for occasional installation. If you work with LOXX regularly, ergonomic installation keys or suitable tool inserts provide faster and more consistent results. For fabrics and leather in particular, a clean hole suited to the material helps ensure a reliable fit.
When should I choose the Heavy Duty version?
Heavy Duty is worth considering when a connection is operated frequently or remains under high tension, such as a tightly tensioned boat cover. It does not replace the correct selection and installation of the lower part.
Can LOXX be installed without drilling?
Depending on the application, clamp, clip or adhesive solutions are available for tubes, rails, profile systems, windscreens and suitable smooth surfaces. The correct solution depends on the mounting surface and the loads involved.

DURABILITY & SERVICE
What makes LOXX a durable connection?
The self-locking mechanism, precisely manufactured components and the correct mounting solution form a coordinated system. Many screw-mounted components can also be removed and reused in another application, provided they remain undamaged.
How should I care for LOXX in outdoor and marine environments?
Salt and dirt should be removed regularly with clean water or a damp cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning products. We also recommend checking occasionally that the fastener operates cleanly and that the lower part remains securely mounted.
What can I do if I am still unsure which product to choose?
Send us a photo or drawing together with the material, material thickness, environment and required quantity. We will be happy to advise you before you order.
Still not quite sure?

A photo, the material and its thickness are often enough for an initial assessment.
